In jacquard the logo is part of the sock: it does not peel or crack in the wash. The trade-off is that the design is simplified to two or three flat colours.

Where branded socks work well

A sock is the easiest piece to get right in a gift for the team or a welcome pack for new starters: you do not have to guess the style, and it gets used every day. Mid-calf suits the office and everyday wear; trainer socks suit sport and summer.

At trade shows and events they work because they weigh very little and people take them home without a second thought. For charity runs and sporting events, choose the model with reinforced heel and toe, and if the socks go alongside T-shirts or sweatshirts, keep the same palette and the same logo size.

Materials and branding techniques

Jacquard weaves the logo with the yarn itself and lasts as long as the sock does, but setting up the loom and approving a sample only pays off on large runs per design. For shorter runs we work on a plain sock with embroidery or with a woven label sewn onto the leg, which allows more detail in a small space.

Sublimation gives a full-colour print from toe to leg and does not crack, although it needs a fabric with a lot of polyester, which you can feel. The usual bases are combed cotton with polyamide and elastane, cotton and polyamide for the sports sock, and organic cotton with recycled polyamide for campaigns with an environmental angle.

How to choose branded socks with your logo

Technique by volume: Woven jacquard for large runs per design; embroidery or a woven label on a plain sock for short runs; sublimation if you want the design in full colour.
Height by use: Trainer socks for sport, summer and welcome packs; mid-calf for the office and everyday wear; sports socks with reinforcement for events and runs.
The logo and its colours: In jacquard, one base colour and two or three contrast colours on the cuff, heel and toe, with a logo that stays recognisable at a few centimetres. If your logo has gradients, sublimation is the option.
Where the brand goes: Instep, leg or cuff if it is woven in jacquard; the side of the leg if it is embroidered or on a label.
